100 Day Challenge Boosts Adoptions at Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA

Halfway Point Shows Promise in Meeting Goal of 1,000 Adoptions in 100 Days

POMONA, Calif., April 4th, 2011- Just 50 days ago, Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A. kicked off

its 100 Day Challenge, striving to facilitate 1,000 pet adoptions in just 100 days.  At the halfway mark, the shelter is well on its way to meeting its goal with over 400 animals already placed in loving, permanent homes.

Launched on February 10, the 100 Day Challenge was designed to increase public awareness of animals at Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A., the largest full-access, non-profit animal welfare organization in Southern California.  In addition, the 100 Day Challenge aims to educate the Inland Valley communities about the multitude of pure breed as well as mix breed animals available for adoption at the shelter.  Moreover, Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A. wants to encourage those looking to add a pet to their home to look first at the shelter as it has a variety of beautiful animals of all ages waiting to become someone’s special companion for life.

“It is our goal to place each and every healthy animal that comes through our doors in a safe and caring home,” said Bill Harford, executive director, Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A.  “We hope the 100 Day Challenge helps facilitate this goal and gets the community involved in making a difference in the lives of so many wonderful animals that need a place to call home.”

To help boost its adoptions during this Challenge, Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A. will host an Adoption Fair on Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during which the cost of all adoptions will be discounted by 50 percent.  In addition, all adoptions will include spay or neuter, vaccinations, deworming, one-month supply of Advantage, free SWAG bag, and two weeks of after care, if needed.  Pet owners can also microchip their furry friends for just $15 during the 100 Day Challenge.

The results of the 100 Day Challenge will be announced at Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A.’s 10th Annual “A Furry Tale Come True” Dog Walk on Saturday, May 21 at Frank G. Bonelli Park in San Dimas.  This fundraising event benefiting the animals at Inland Valley Humane Society joins thousands of animal lovers and their four-legged friends for a one-, two-, or three-mile walk as well as offers games and activities for dogs and their owners, sponsor booths, a vendor village, pancake breakfast, and much more.  For more information, visit www.ivhsdogwalk.com.
